hopeless

Have you ever noticed, how religiously the people of India, especially, those of Kerala, hold strikes every month! (if not every week) No I’m not against the principles of Democracy, yes ‘Hartals’ are the means of protesting against the rules of the governments; but why can’t there be a better alternative?  One that would not result in such a vast disturbance not just in our daily life but drastically in the economic growth of the State by the forced closing  of the shops. Many a times, the damage to the institutions, office buildings,  buses, that the political party workers (those who are supposed to be working for the people’s benefits) do in the name of the demonstrating support for the ‘Hartal’ organized in the name of protesting against some of the measures adopted by the government. It is worse when the cause may not even be something worthwhile. Sometimes, it is held in the memory of a leader in the party who passed away, organizing such Hartals all his life. O how my heart grieves at the state of my state.

Dreams

tips-for-recalling-dreams

I dream

I love to dream

I  do dream a lot

So do dreams come true?

Ya, at times, they do

When I say Dejavu

I can’t stop dreaming

that would mean dying

Dreams make the way

for the next new day

I live to fulfill these

my little dreams

Yeah I do dream a lot

I love to dream

I dream

Farewell Forever

For me, farewells were never easy

Death, the worst of all

Creates a lacuna so deep

No amount of tears can fill it to the brim

The sight of the bereaved

Truly unbearable

Hows and whys cloud my mind

Motionless and lifeless

O the sight tore our hearts

tears flooded our eyes as we saw

his eyes still open, a little

For the first time, I knew a sorrow

I couldn’t understand

Death of a dear friend

left us all shocked

 beyond words

a memory we all would hate

to remember

his smiling face, his jokes

 his doubts,his questions

his dreams,his innocence

everything about him, marred

on this horrible day

the thought of a class

without him

the memory that he was once among us

but will be no more

O the pain, so unknown

our promises of friendship years ahead

 all seemed in vain indeed

for we couldn’t be with him

when he took that ride

down to the valley of death

all alone

 life is so unpredictable

yesterday he was there

today no more

the least we can do is pray

and be there for his family

as he was for us
